Starting on Tuesday, July 15, I went with Devrim on a trip around Michigan. Here are the photos ...
On the way up, we stopped at a rest area with a scenic path to a scenic overlook ...
Then, the we took the ferry to Mackinac Island and visited Mackinac Island ...
One of the cool things at Mackinac Island was the Grand Hotel. The informational marker is in the photos below ...
We found a graveyard there. Somebody born in 1933 is really planning ahead ...
And a golf course ...
And an airport ...
And fudge ...
And a park ...
And coonskin caps ...
And the city streets ...
And other cool stuff ...
The Horseshoe Falls ... these are in Munising and are the falls plus a little tourist trap ... the falls themselves ...
And a sundial ...
And a fake Indian totem pole or similar ...
And a larger version of The Pet Rock ...
Munising and the boat tour of the pictured rocks starting in Munising ...
The little motel where we stayed ...
Departing ...
The rocks ...
A rather novel window decal on a vehicle in the parking lot ...
Miner's Castle, Miner's Falls, and Miner's Beach ... we made a separate car trip to those after seeing them from the boat tour of the pictured rocks ... also interspersed below are some "idiot" signs to keep idiots from doing idiotic things.
The Soo Locks ... departing ...
The boat was actually older than me (seems not many things are these days) ...
On the boat, going through the locks ...
The Valley Camp (next to the dock for the Soo Locks boat tour), a retired great lakes ore hauler ...
Oswald's Bear Ranch, about 20 minutes from Tahquamenon Falls ... notice how the fence is in perfect focus in some pictures but the bears are not ...
Tahquamenon Falls ... with more idiot signs ...
Notice that some people just feel that they have to break the rules ...
And more pics ...
We cooked hot dogs on a $3.99 grill while mosquitoes attempted to suck our blood ...
Canoeing down the Au Sable river, starting in Mio, Michigan ...
Saturday, Luna Pier ... first, the McDonald's breakfast ...
Then, Luna Pier ...
Miniature golf ...
